My sweetest little love turned one this weekend! I cannot even believe it has been a full year since I gave birth to him. The memories from that day are still as fresh in my mind as if they were a few days ago! It was such an incredible birth experience, perhaps I should write about it sometime!
We had such a wonderful time this weekend celebrating with our closest family and friends! I’m so glad that, despite being sick for two days this past week, it came together just as I had envisioned. My friends and family probably think I go over-the-top with the party decorations for our boys, but I just cannot help myself! I love creating everything for the parties, it’s a good excuse to break out the sewing machine and get out my crafting supplies! So enough of this rambling on, let’s get to the stuff you actually came here to see!
I went to Home Depot and bought a huge roll of brown craft paper (it is sold in the paint section) and used a couple long strips of it to cover my wall for a backdrop. Then I folded a bunch of paper airplanes out of copy paper.
Making these triangle garlands was pretty simple. To cut out the trianges, I borrowed my friend’s dicut machine. Once I had all of them cut out I used my sewing machine, on the straight stitch, and ran each of them through the machine in one continuous strand. I would start by sewing through a triangle, then I would pull the threads back a little for added spacing. That’s it, just repeat until you reach your desired length!
To make the “Happy Birthday” banner, I used black construction paper, a hole punch, some baker’s twine, and a template I designed in Illustrator. If you would like to download the free template you can do so here.
Next, I ordered a bunch of prints from my instagram feed of my sweet boy all throughout his first year, and taped them up in the shape a of “1”.
These cupcake toppers are SO cute and super easy to make! All you need is a roll of washi tape, I used this one from Michael’s, and some toothpicks. Fold the tape over the toothpick, and cut the end. To create the cut I did, simply pinch the tape in half width-wise and cut at a diagonal towards the fold. Voila! You have a cute little flag cupcake topper!
The little fella was a bit shy when it came to eating his cake! He is definitely more like his daddy when it comes to food, he prefers meat over sweets! How cute is he in his little “one”sie! I had a little extra felt left over from making the “O-N-E” banner for his highchair, so I decided to make him a party outfit! Also, I cannot believe he actually wore the party hat I made him! Isn’t it just precious?
I’m so thrilled with how everything turned out, we had such a wonderful day celebrating! If you download the template for the banner I would love to see how you decorate with it!
